The Preacher and Prophet

is Prophet.It was Tuesday night and I was surfing the web looking at the puppies for adoption in the area, and honestly from reading the description and seeing the picture, I thought, tomorrow is April 1st but someone got started early. Certainly I was being fooled, there is no way I thought…it couldn’t be.
Well, let me tell you the story. It has been many a heart-wrenching hour of internal thought and debate.because as you may or may not know Zeus,
my Lab-Pyrenees mix died just before Christmas 2008. He was 13 years old and had been a very faithful companion and guardian over our home and family.
Well as we are just a few days from closing on our house, I felt it was time to begin looking for a new pup. When I began the search, I had no designs on getting a pup until we moved, but that was not how it was to be.
See, Zeus was a gentle giant topping out in his prime at 105 lbs., his mother a full-blooded Great Pyrenees and his dad a full-blooded Lab, daddy was a fence jumper. We got Zeus in southern TN just a stone’s throw away from Alabama. Would you believe it if I told you that our new pup had similar lineage? Well he does and the similarities are incredible, let me explain.
Our new pup Prophet is also a Labyrenees as I call them, his mother is a full-blooded Great Pyrenees too, and his dad a full-blooded lab, while Zeus’ dad was a black Lab, Prophets dad is a chocolate lab. While we had to go far into the country to get Prophet he was not a stone’s throw from another state, but it was far enough out that our GPS quit working because it could not find a signal, not sure how that happens. Any was as far as that goes that might be where the similarities end only time will tell. As you can tell form the picture above Zeus was black with a white mark on his chest and grey tips to his paws. And in his old age his face was almost completely gray. Zeus looked like a Lab on steroids, while Prophet is white with black spots. Prophet certainly has large paws for such a “little” fella and even larger ones to fill
Well if Prophet is anything like his predecessor Zeus, we are sure to have another faithful, loving member to our family that will bring lots of laughter, and warm feeling over the years. Welcome to the family, Prophet we are sure you going to love being a part of such a large family.
